Headteacher Message

Mrs. Jennifer Evans

Dear parents & carers,

This week, I am thrilled at the number of opportunities that have been available for our pupils:

  • Key Stage 3 pupils have been using teamwork and communication skills as part of one of their PE units.
  • The Year 7 football team played St John Fisher after school, with one of our two teams winning their match 3-0, and a pupil was presented with a Manchester United shirt for their help in the event. The team are already looking forward to their next match against The Deanery High School next Wednesday.
  • Year 10 Construction pupils visited West Lancashire College and gained a valuable insight into joinery and bricklaying. We have had some fantastic feedback from the College and look forward to working with them again in the near future.
  • Cookery Club chefs have gone international this week and made a French pastry called an ‘Apple Galette’. The photographs of this dish look delicious!

The Dean Trust Active Challenge event will take place on Tuesday 25th June 2024 and the PE Department are looking for 80 pupils to compete for Dean Trust Wigan. Further information can be found later in this edition of the newsletter.

Finally, good luck to Mr Herron, Teacher of PE, who will be representing Scotland in the Squash 2024 Masters Home Internationals Tournament in Dublin on 26th and 27th April, and good luck to Mr Kenny, Assistant Headteacher Key Stage 4, who will be playing for Connah’s Quay Nomads Football Club in the Welsh Premier League Cup Final this Sunday 28th April. What a fantastic achievement – everyone at Dean Trust Wigan is incredibly proud!

I wish you all a restful weekend.
