Headteacher Message

Mrs. Jennifer Evans

Dear parents and carers,

This week at Dean Trust Wigan has been the last week before we break for the Half Term holidays. Year 11 pupils have continued their busy period of exams, with some pupils sitting seven exams this week.

I am incredibly proud of the whole year group, who continue to demonstrate great resilience and positive attitudes at this stressful time, and I am also proud of Dean Trust Wigan staff for their unwavering support towards our pupils. Pupils in Year 11 should make sure that they are taking regular revision breaks during the half term holiday and eat and drink well, as well as getting enough sleep.

  • Congratulations to our year group stars of the week, and to this week’s winner of the Headteacher’s Award for whole-school Pupil of the Week, Kenzie S.
  • In Cookery Club this week, pupils have made their very own Nando’s ‘fakeaway’ and all worked together to combine all the elements needed for a tasty dish.
  • Two of our Year 8 Manchester United Female Leadership pupils have been recognised for their kindness, compassion, and friendship towards others, and Year 7 pupil Caleb H has been rewarded for his kindness after school in helping to replace a chain that had come off another pupil’s bike. I am very proud of these pupils for their actions both in school and in the community.
  • Year 9 pupil Jake C has been chosen to be a ball boy at Manchester United’s home games for the upcoming season due to his behaviour and conduct at school, and we look forward to catching a glimpse of Jake on TV perhaps!
  • A number of pupils also had the incredible opportunity to watch SIX the musical in Liverpool this week, and the feedback after the event is that all pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were excellent representatives of Dean Trust Wigan.
  • Some pupils attended a Zoom call to learn about careers in the NHS and where these paths can take pupils, and Year 7 Liam A has begun revitalising our school allotment with the help of Mrs Hardy.

I wish you all a lovely and restful half term break, and look forward to welcoming you back to Dean Trust Wigan on Monday 3rd June, in full uniform and fully equipped for the day.
