Headteacher Message

Mrs. Jennifer Evans

Dear parents and carers,

This week, the first whole-year group GCSE exam took place, with Year 11 pupils sitting their Biology GCSE on Friday 10th May. I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents and carers that these exams are so important for your children, and so please continue to make sure that your child attends school every day, on time, and ready for their day. Pupils must be fully equipped with correct uniform to have the best possible chance at succeeding.

Good luck to all Dean Trust Wigan pupils sitting exams in the coming weeks. Remember that teachers, form tutors, and all staff in school are here to support pupils during this time. We have included in this edition of the newsletter a handy guide on helping your children to cope with exam stress, which you may find useful.

Elsewhere in Dean Trust Wigan, this week pupils have been carrying out fieldwork in Geography lessons and measuring different wind speeds around site.

Our football teams have played some really difficult matches and have impressed their teachers with their resilience and determination during these games.

One of our Year 8 pupils, Kaylum M, has been asked to join the Liverpool Academy squad for a football tournament in Norway next weekend, and we wish him the best of luck in that.

The second of our Staff v Pupils Tri-Sporting series at lunch has also taken place, with the staff reigning victorious after a 7-2 win against the pupils in a netball game.

Congratulations to our year group Stars of the Week, and this week’s Pupil of the Week, Kian M!

As always, I wish you a restful weekend and look forward to seeing you on Monday morning.
