Headteacher Message

Mrs. Jennifer Evans

Thank you to all parents and carers who have made sure that their children have attended school during this final week of the half term. Attendance at school has a direct and positive impact on pupils, and I do hope that we can continue to work together to improve attendance for the next half term.

This week at Dean Trust Wigan, we have had some fantastic news and achievements, including that Kaylum M in Year 8 has been asked to travel to France to play football for the Liverpool Academy team!

Some of our pupils on the Child Development course have received positive feedback from Westfield Nursery, where they attend on Friday mornings for work experience, and we have also been contacted by members of the wider community to inform us about the incredible acts of kindness and compassion that some pupils have shown outside of school. I, and the rest of the staff at Dean Trust Wigan, continue to be proud of the behaviour of a lot of the pupils here, and it is my hope that this theme of kindness can extend to the whole school body.

A reminder that from Monday 26th February, the car park gates will be shut between the hours of 8:25am – 9:00am, and also from 2:45pm – 3:20pm. Please plan accordingly when dropping off or collecting your child.

After we return, there will also be letters being sent out reminding all pupils, parents and carers about the standards and behaviour expected of Dean Trust Wigan pupils. The focus will be on continuous improvement and drive for high standards, and further information about the consequences of breach of these, as well as the consequences for lateness, incorrect uniform, makeup, and jewellery, will also be sent out.

I hope that you use this half term break to relax and reset, and I look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 26th February, in full school uniform and ready for the day.
